EU Digital Services Act
The European Union (EU) Digital Services Act (DSA) has been in effect since 16 November 2022. The DSA obliges online platforms to prevent harm and combat risks online. Its mission is to protect consumers and their fundamental rights online, set guidelines for transparency and accountability in online platforms, and promote innovation, development and competitiveness.
Average monthly number of active consumers
Under the Digital Services Act, online platforms are required to publish information on the monthly average (averaged over the last six months) of active consumers of their services in the EU by 17 February 2023. If the average monthly number of active users of a platform from the EU exceeds 45 million (representing 10% of the EU population), the European Commission classifies the platform as a “very large online platform” (VLOP) and imposes additional regulatory requirements on it. regulatory requirements.
According to BAKIN.fun, the average monthly number of active EU consumers for the period from June 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024 was significantly below the threshold of 45 million users for very large platforms.
In its calculations, BAKIN.fun used its capabilities to identify unique users from the EU who actually interacted with the platform. Actual interaction excludes accidental use of services (for example, when, during the provision of another intermediary service, the content of BAKIN.fun indirectly became available to the user), as well as automated users, including bots and scrapers.
BAKIN.fun will monitor the average monthly number of active consumers of its services in the EU and update this data at least once every six months.
